Lead Datacenter Technician

 What You'll Own

● A team of 4-8 technicians executing terminal deployments, transponder installs, optical migrations, and cross-connects

● The execution plan for every project at your site — from kickoff through QC completion

● Site-level quality: Right First Time rate, audit pass rate, workmanship standards

● SLA performance at your site — projects delivered within contractual timeframes

● Technical problem resolution: you are the first and primary escalation point when work stalls

Required Qualifications

Experience

● 5 years in structured cabling, fiber optic installation, or data center infrastructure deployment

● 2 years in a lead, foreman, or supervisory role directing crews of 3 technicians

● Demonstrated experience planning and executing Division 27 installation projects from design to completion

● Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, cable schedules, rack diagrams, and port maps

Technical Skills

● Expert-level fiber optic termination, testing, and troubleshooting (single-mode and multi-mode)

● Proficient with: VFL, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber scope, Cat6 tester, LC/MTP-12/MTP-24 connectors, IR card, OneClick and Cletop cleaners

● Effective Layer 1 troubleshooting methodology — can isolate and resolve connectivity issues systematically

● Knowledge of SLA structures and prioritization logic

● Proficiency in productivity tools: Excel/Sheets, Word/Docs, project tracking software

Leadership & Communication

● Strong written and verbal communication — can produce professional progress reports, escalation summaries, and client-facing updates

● Demonstrated ability to coach and develop junior team members (not just direct them)

● Comfortable representing the team in meetings with client representatives

● Professional demeanor: composed under pressure, solutions-oriented, accountable

Other Requirements

● Pass customer background verification (BGV)

● Willing and able to travel domestically to other ENSD sites (up to 25% travel)

● Meet physical requirements: regularly carry 20 lbs, lift 50 lbs, work from ladders, move frequently between work areas
