Facilities Decommissioning Engineer to support the safe shutdown of facility utilities, systems, and manufacturing equipment across multiple sites.
This role will focus on the make-safe phase of decommissioning, ensuring equipment and utilities are properly shut down, isolated, documented, and ready for removal. Physical demolition and equipment removal will be handled separately.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead shutdown and isolation of HVAC, process water, chilled water, gases, electrical systems, and other facility utilities.
- Review utility drawings and coordinate shutdowns without disrupting areas that remain operational.
- Oversee the safe shutdown of manufacturing equipment, including purging, draining, cleaning, and decontamination as needed.
- Serve as the technical lead for Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and hazardous energy control.
- Verify equipment and utility systems are properly de-energized and in a safe condition before turnover for removal.
- Manage equipment decommissioning activities in SAP, including retiring assets, closing preventive maintenance schedules, and updating records.
- Ensure decommissioning and asset-retirement documentation is accurate and complete.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors performing electrical, mechanical, utility, and equipment shutdown activities.
- Provide onsite technical support, troubleshoot issues, and communicate progress, risks, and project delays to leadership.
- Ensure all shutdown activities follow applicable safety and HSE/EHS requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in facilities engineering, maintenance engineering, plant engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and facility utilities.
- Hands-on experience with LOTO, equipment de-energization, and mechanical/electrical isolation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system documentation.
- Experience managing contractors or technical vendors.
- Comfortable working onsite and on the manufacturing floor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with facility or equipment shutdown/decommissioning projects.
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, GMP, or regulated manufacturing experience.
- Experience with SAP maintenance and asset management.
- Experience with GMP-compliant decommissioning documentation.
