The Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites by Hilton, located in Downtown Cincinnati, is currently hiring for a full-time Banquet Captain. The person hired for this position will need flexibility to work first or second shift, depending on scheduled events. Weekday and weekend availability is required.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide distinctive high-quality food and beverage related services. Strive to create team oriented and safe work environment with fellow staff and associates while providing our guests with first class service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains constant communication with guests, on-site contact, and the sales department to ensure all expectations are met or exceeded
- Reviews Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) with strong attention to detail.
- Maintains constant contact with kitchen or catering staff to ensure complete effective communication between food production and food service
- Inspects table place settings, including table linen, china, glass, silverware, and condiments for correct placement and ensures that each element is clean, undamaged, and attractive
- Ensures proper setting of buffet tables and other food service tables
- Participates in clearing and post-function cleanup and garbage removal
- Thorough knowledge of all banquet menus and related products presented to our guests
- Exhibit a positive, enthusiastic attitude committed to a teamwork effort
- Complete administrative task as outlined
- Train and develop staff with service, product, and alcohol standards
- Monitor and ensure proper building sanitation and maintenance standards
- Establish and maintain adequate equipment inventories, which include china, glassware, silverware linen and small equipment
- Responsible for completing various administrative duties prior to and at the end of the shift
- Adequately plan for major events and markets
- Covers where needed, e.g. serving, bartending, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum one year of banquet lead/captain experience in a quality establishment
- Must possess a professional attitude and behavior
- Must possess working knowledge of food preparation and presentation
- TIPS certification required
- Bartending experience preferred
JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employees in this position work indoors and outdoors. To perform the job successfully the candidate must be able to use a computer and other standard office equipment and offer excellent customer service when dealing with customers or prospective clients. This position often requires long periods of standing and walking as well as frequent reaching and kneeling, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, and moving objects 50 lbs or more. The Banquet Captain must be able to quickly maneuver to any location in the hotel. Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
