POSITION TITLE: Billing Specialist (Full-time)
REPORTS TO: Controller
SUMMARY: The Billing Specialist is primarily responsible for the Medicaid and Private
pay billing process for the Lifeline Program and secondarily responsible for
assisting the Payroll Clerk in processing bi-monthly payroll duties.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Track Medicaid payments and denials and provide list of past due payments to supervisor.
- Maintains updated list of lifeline clients monthly.
- Prepare aging report using Financial Edge and Lifeware and follow-up with outstanding balances.
- Manage Medicaid and State Web Portal site database.
- Prepare and submit electronic Medicaid billing to State Fiscal Agent monthly.
- Enter state prior authorization (PAR) data into Web Portal site and file (PARS) into subscriber folders.
- Update client PAR effective dates of coverage monthly.
- Act as agency/liaison between State Fiscal Agency and case managers.
- Research claims denied and follow-up with case managers and State Fiscal Agent.
- Re-submit denials promptly, keeping in a timely filing process per the State Procedures found in the Medicaid Manual.
- Research files in the Lifeline office as needed to complete billing procedures.
- Manage private billing process as necessary.
- Attend ongoing Medicaid training annually and/as offered by the State.
14. Attend Lifeline staff meetings and meet with Program Development Director as needed.
15. Assist the Payroll Clerk with processing payroll bi-monthly which includes data entry, timesheet collection, and ensuring accuracy with each pay period.
- Manage Help Program billing & reconciliation
- Maintain auto debits for Lifeline
- Responsible for tracking and billing Medicaid Transportation Billing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of a Hogh School Diploma or equivalent
· Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Accounting preferred
· One-year experience with Medicaid Web Portal, medical claims, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft software.
· Individuals considered for hire must have a current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
