Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with all aspects of A to Z work model, responsible for coordinating transportation services between shippers and carriers, managing customer relationships, and ensuring the efficient movement of freight. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, transportation planning, and sales strategies within the logistics industry. The Freight Broker will play a vital role in expanding our network, negotiating contracts, and providing exceptional service to clients while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.
Duties
- Act as the primary liaison between shippers and carriers to arrange freight transportation solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through effective account management and inside sales techniques.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), CRM software, and EDI platforms to facilitate booking, dispatching, and tracking shipments.
- Negotiate rates, contracts, and service terms with carriers and clients to optimize profitability and service quality.
- Coordinate logistics planning including transportation scheduling, dispatching, and route optimization.
- Generate leads for new business opportunities through lead generation strategies and B2B sales outreach.
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific protocols.
- Manage data entry related to shipments, pricing, carrier details, and contractual agreements.
- Monitor shipment progress to ensure timely delivery while resolving any issues that arise during transit.
- Collaborate with internal teams on transportation management, logistics sales, freight pricing, and transportation sales initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience in supply chain management, transportation management, or logistics sales.
- Established book of business is required.
- Strong knowledge of freight brokerage operations including carrier sales, logistics planning, and contract negotiations.
- Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), CRM software, EDI platforms.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build long-term client relationships.
- Understanding of FDA regulations related to transportation of regulated goods is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for inside sales activities and customer relationship management.
- Data entry accuracy and dispatching experience are essential for operational success.
