Sports Performance Coach – The Adirondack Club

Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

About The Adirondack Club

The Adirondack Club is the region’s premier performance and wellness facility, committed to developing athletes across all stages—from foundational youth development through collegiate-level performance. Our approach is rooted in evidence-informed training, individualized programming, and a commitment to measurable, long-term athletic development.

We serve a diverse athlete population and emphasize structured progression, performance outcomes, and high-quality coaching standards within a collaborative professional environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Sports Performance Coach dedicated to developing athletes and delivering measurable results across a wide age and ability spectrum. This role is ideal for a coach who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to engage, motivate, and progress athletes ranging from youth beginners to competitive high school and collegiate performers.

The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of long-term athletic development principles, experience in program design, and the ability to adapt coaching strategies to meet the evolving needs of each athlete. This is an opportunity to contribute within a structured, high-performance environment while continuing to refine and expand your coaching practice.

Who Thrives Here

  • Coaches who take a professional, career-oriented approach to strength and conditioning—not just session-based training
  • Individuals who are process-driven and results-focused, with a commitment to measurable athlete outcomes
  • Those who value structured programming, assessment, and long-term development models over one-size-fits-all training
  • Coaches who are confident working with both youth athletes and advanced performers, and can scale coaching appropriately
  • Professionals who prioritize continuous learning, staying current with research and best practices in sports performance
  • Team-oriented individuals who contribute to a collaborative coaching environment while also building their own impact
  • Coaches who bring energy and presence on the floor, balanced with discipline, organization, and attention to detail

Key Responsibilities

Program Development

  • Design and implement individualized and small-group sports performance programs aligned with athletes’ age, training history, and sport-specific demands
  • Develop structured, progressive programming focused on strength, speed, agility, mobility, and overall athletic performance

Athlete Assessment & Evaluation

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate movement quality, performance capacity, strengths, and areas for improvement
  • Track and analyze progress, making data-driven adjustments to optimize performance outcomes

Training & Coaching

  • Deliver high-quality, technically sound training sessions that are engaging, challenging, and outcome-focused
  • Apply a variety of coaching methodologies to effectively instruct and develop athletes across ability levels
  • Maintain a strong emphasis on movement quality, injury prevention, and performance progression
  • Foster a disciplined, positive training environment that promotes accountability, confidence, and long-term development

Education & Athlete Support

  • Provide guidance on foundational areas such as recovery, injury prevention, and performance habits
  • Support athletes in goal setting, mindset development, and preparation for competitive demands

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with fellow coaches and communicate effectively with parents to ensure a cohesive and aligned development approach
  • Deliver clear, constructive feedback that supports athlete growth and engagement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related field (preferred)
  • Nationally recognized strength and conditioning certification (e.g., NSCA-CSCS or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 1 year of sports performance coaching experience across varied age groups and skill levels
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing effective, results-driven performance programs
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • Professional mindset with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with structured youth athletic development models
  • Ability to manage multiple groups and programming tracks in a dynamic training environment
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development within the field

Compensation & Growth Opportunities

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and coaching scope
  • Opportunities to expand professional responsibilities into adult private and semi-private training
  • Access to a collaborative, growth-oriented coaching environment within a respected performance facility
