What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at SR2 | Socially Responsible Recruitment | Certified B Corporation™?
Electrical Engineer
Autonomous Robotics | Defense Technology
Overview
We’re supporting a venture-backed defense technology startup developing advanced autonomous systems designed to operate in highly dynamic and challenging environments.
Founded by experienced engineers with deep expertise in robotics and control systems, the team is building next-generation platforms that combine embedded systems, power electronics, and real-time control to address complex aerial threats.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role in an engineering-first environment, where you’ll work on systems that need to perform reliably under real-world constraints.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and develop electrical systems, including schematics and PCB layouts for embedded and power electronics
- Build and optimise real-time embedded software (C /Python) for control and responsiveness
- Conduct simulation and analysis (signal integrity, thermal, EMC) to ensure robust system performance
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate electrical, mechanical, and software components
- Lead PCB development, focusing on power distribution, reliability, and performance in demanding environments
- Test, debug, and validate systems in both lab and field settings
- Optimise system performance, including latency, efficiency, and power consumption
- Contribute to scaling prototypes into reliable, field-ready systems
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in electrical engineering and embedded systems design
- Experience with schematic design and PCB layout (e.g. Altium, OrCAD, Eagle)
- Solid understanding of microcontroller-based systems, including power and motor control
- Hands-on experience with embedded software development (C , Python)
- Experience working on real-time or safety-critical systems (ideally robotics or autonomous systems)
- Familiarity with simulation tools (SPICE, ANSYS, or similar)
- Experience integrating sensors, actuators, and control systems
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work across disciplines
Nice to Have
- Experience with thermal management in high-power systems
- Exposure to embedded Linux or RTOS environments
- Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, UART, I2C, TCP/IP, UDP)
- Experience optimising systems for low latency and constrained hardware environments
What’s On Offer
- Competitive salary equity
- Full benefits package (health, dental, vision)
- Paid time off
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous systems with real-world impact
Salary : $150,000 - $300,000
