Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck to pick up and deliver goods across designated local routes, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary.
- Ensure proper loading practices to prevent damage and maintain weight distribution for safe driving.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch using mobile devices to confirm routes, delivery times, and any unforeseen delays.
- Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally with clients during deliveries, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs in compliance with company policies and DOT regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier with a focus on local route driving.
- Warehouse experience including material handling, moving heavy loads, and operating equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Familiarity with commercial truck driving, especially box trucks with manual transmissions.
- Knowledge of safe lifting practices, heavy lifting techniques, and weight handling in the workplace.
- Experience adhering to traffic laws, DOT regulations, and safety protocols during all driving activities.
- Prior work involving warehouse operations or logistics is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills combined with the ability to operate mobile devices efficiently during routes.
