Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Maintains a patient schedule within in scope of an EFDA license including:
- Pediatric recall and new patient phrophylaxis
- Emergency triage (in person or by phone)
- Sealants
- Basic restorative
- Assist the dentist in various dental procedures including restorative, preventative, and surgical procedures as permitted by state law.
- Educate patients on oral health, post-operative care, and proper dental hygiene practices.
- Provide compassionate support to patients, addressing their concerns and needs effectively.
- Work collaboratively with other health providers within the FQHC to promote comprehensive patient care and community health initiatives.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the dental office including scheduling, patient flow, inventory management, and staff supervision.
- Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
- Coordinate patient appointments, follow-ups, and dental referrals.
- Manage appointments with Holy Family Institute
-Submit pre-authorizations for specialty treatment
- Coordinate Financial agreement forms and patient communication
- Manage patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Recruit, train, and supervise dental staff, including assistants, and dental front office personnel
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in dental assisting or related field preferred.
- Certified Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA).
- Current Dental Assistant Certification. X-ray certification, and CPR/BLS certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in dental assisting, with at least 1 year in a managerial role preferred.
- Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center or similar community health setting is.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in dental software and electronic health records (EHR).
- Knowledge of dental regulations, coding, and billing practices.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a positive work environment.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a clinical setting.
- May require standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Interaction with patients from diverse backgrounds, including low-income populations.
