What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Handler and Children's Educator position at Squeals on Wheels Petting Zoo?
We are looking for outgoing people who enjoy working with children and animals! Perfect for people looking for fun/flexible part-time work 2 - 3 days per week (flexible on which days Wed-Sun).
Job Purpose: To lead educational events for children and adults, while professionally representing the company. To create a fun and exciting environment as well as teach them about animals/animal care. A unique opportunity to earn money while enjoying animals and making others happy!
Compensation: Starting pay is $17 per hour and we reimburse for mileage at 75 cents per mile when staff drive animals and supplies to events. Any tips our staff members receive are kept 100% by staff.
Hours: We are looking for people available at least 2 weekdays, with availability for 4 - 8 hours shifts. Events typically occur between the hours of 8:30 - 5:30pm.
Location: This is a traveling educational petting zoo. Staff must have the ability to transport themselves plus animals and fencing to zoos. Staff members are reimbursed for mileage when driving their own vehicles.
Requirements: Enthusiasm, dependability, patience and an outgoing personality. Must enjoy working with children and animals. A criminal background check; copies of driver's license and current vehicle insurance are required. 1 or more years experience working with children.
Lift and Carry Requirements: 25 pound fencing and baskets with small to medium-sized animals.
Vehicle Requirements: A 4-door sedan or larger vehicle to transport animals in small baskets and equipment safely to and from zoo.
Bonus if you are able to drive a large van or horse trailer!
