Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), North America to lead our financial planning and analysis efforts for our North American operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, North America you will be a key leader in driving financial performance, providing critical insights to executive leadership, and supporting strategic decision-making across the organization. This is a highly visible role that requires a strong analytical mind, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of building and leading high-performing FP&A teams in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership:
    • Lead the comprehensive financial planning processes for North America, including annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range strategic planning.
    • Develop and implement robust financial models to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and business growth.
    • Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams (e.g., Business Development, Operations, Product, Engineering) to develop financial targets and ensure alignment with overall company goals.
    • Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to drive performance improvements and identify cost-reductive opportunities.
  • Business Partnering & Analysis:
    • Act as a trusted financial advisor to various business units and department heads across North America, providing financial expertise and decision support.
    • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reports, including variance analysis against budget and prior periods.
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor business performance and identify trends.
    • Conduct deep-dive financial analyses on specific business drivers, market trends, and competitive landscapes.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop FP&A team members and collaborate with other teams within the finance organization.
    • Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews for team members.
    • Optimize FP&A processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Process Improvement & Systems:
    • Drive improvements in financial reporting, planning, and analysis processes.
    • Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all financial reporting.
    • Leverage financial and reporting systems (e.g. SAP, NetSuite, PowerBI, Tableau)
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in Finance leadership roles, with at least 3-5 years in a management capacity, preferably in a rapidly scaling environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.

SquareTrade estimates the possible base compensation for this role, if hired in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, to be in the range : $205K - $240K
