What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inclusive Classroom Preschool Teacher position at Square One?
Square One is a private nonprofit organization that provides a range of family-friendly education and support services that are unique to each child and every family served. Our focus is on providing opportunities for children and families to build the foundation for lifelong learning and to grow strong cognitively, emotionally, socially, and physically.
We are currently looking for two Inclusive Classroom Associate Teachers, one part-time and one full-time, interested in joining our team.
The Associate Teacher works cooperatively with the Lead Teacher/Director to plan and implement the daily education program for the children. Under the supervision of the lead Teacher/Director and Mentor teacher, the Associate Teacher will ensure the education program is developmentally appropriate meeting the individual needs of children as well as program standards of Educare and Square One. In the absence of the Lead Teacher, the Associate Teacher takes responsibility for the management of the classroom.
In this inclusion classroom, teachers will work alongside Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) to provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for children receiving ABA services, as well as their typically developing peers. Teachers working in this classroom have the opportunity to become RBTs, free of charge, if interested.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, actively pursuing an Associate's degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related area with a minimum of 18 credits of Early Childhood coursework and an additional 12 credits earned from a related area.
- Related areas can include, but are not limited to, child development, early childhood curriculum, early childhood assessment, psychology, and family development.
- A minimum of one year of experience teaching in an early childhood program.
- Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice for preschoolers.
- Ability to communicate and cooperate with families, various professionals, and community groups.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification and pass al required background checks.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
- Create a warm, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to learn.
- Observe and document children's development, progress, and behavior, and assist with developmental assessments and other required documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and healthy classroom environment while ensuring children are appropriately supervised at all times.
- Assist with lesson planning, classroom preparation, and the implementation of curriculum activities aligned with program goals.
- Build positive relationships with children and families through daily interactions and ongoing communication.
- Collaborate with teachers, family support staff, specialists, and other team members to support individual child needs and goals.
- Support inclusive practices and help implement strategies that promote the success of all learners.
- Participate in family conferences, professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and continuous program improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of classroom and program operations.
Pay: $19.99 - $27.44 per hour
