Square One is seeking reliable, flexible, and nurturing Float Teachers to support classrooms across our early education centers. Float Teachers play an essential role in ensuring children receive consistent, high-quality care and education by providing coverage for planned absences, staffing needs, and classroom support.
We are primarily seeking part-time certified Float Teachers, but we will also consider full-time candidates and individuals who are not yet teacher-certified. If you are interested in working in early childhood education but need certification, we can help guide you through the certification process and identify the courses needed to become qualified.
What You'll Do
As a Float Teacher, you may work in a variety of classrooms and age groups (infant/toddler/preschool/school-age), assisting with daily operations and supporting teaching staff. Responsibilities may include:
- Providing classroom coverage across multiple Square One locations
- Supporting the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities
- Assisting with supervision, care, safety, and engagement of children
- Supporting classroom routines, including transitions, meals, rest periods, and outdoor play
- Preparing materials and helping maintain a clean, organized learning environment
- Assisting lead and associate teachers with classroom responsibilities
- Building positive relationships with children, families, and staff
- Following all program, licensing, and safety requirements
- Performing duties consistent with classroom staffing needs and teacher-level qualifications
- Completing other related duties as assigned
Schedule & Availability
- Availability is required between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM
- Schedules are typically provided in advance, but candidates should be flexible, as occasional same-day or short-notice coverage may be needed for staff call-outs
- Part-time and full-time opportunities may be available
Qualifications
Certified Candidates
- Meet Massachusetts EEC Teacher qualifications for the age group served
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Non-Certified Candidates
- At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Interest in pursuing EEC Teacher certification
- Willingness to complete required coursework and certification requirements within 6 months of hire

- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working in different classrooms and locations

Pay: $18.40 - $21.56 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 – 40.0 per week
