What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Child Care Home Visitor position at Square One?
Square One is a private nonprofit organization that provides a range of family-friendly education and support services that are unique to each child and every family served. Our focus is on providing opportunities for children and families to build the foundation for lifelong learning and to grow strong cognitively, emotionally, socially and physically.
Square One’s programs include early education and care at centers in Springfield, home-based care settings located throughout greater Springfield, and out of school time care for elementary school age children. In addition, Square One provides family support services through a variety of home visiting programs with parenting education and support groups in addition to youth workforce development programming.
The Family Child Care Home Visitor supports the FCC providers affiliated with Square One. Through observations the home visitor identifies strengths and challenges and offers feedback and technical assistance. The FCC home visitor must be able to build positive and trusting relationships, with the providers, and use a strength based approach in their ongoing support. In addition, the home visitor supports the FCC Coordinator in managing required documents, reports, and data entry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or; Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development / CDA preferred.
- A minimum of one year as an FCC provider or experience as a classroom educator.
- Experience working with a diverse population of children and adults.
- Knowledge of The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations.
- Knowledge of Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations and requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have own reliable transportation to conduct provider home visits
- Computer literate in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Knowledge of ProCare and Child Care Financial Assistance (CCFA) preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS:
- Conduct provider home visits for both EEC and CACFP compliance
- Complete home visit forms and provide technical assistance, if needed
- Clerical responsibilities such as filing, copying and scanning
- Assist in all professional development days/trainings for providers
- Support coordinator in maintaining all provider records and documents
- Develop a monthly newsletter of information and best practices for FCC providers
- Assist coordinator with reviewing weekly invoice submissions
- Assist coordinator with entering attendance in ProCare and CCFA
- Assist coordinator in reviewing provider menus for disallowances/serious deficiencies and document as required. Offer technical assistance as needed.
- Upload all documents into Teams/Shared Drive
- Support providers in day-to-day needs
- Assist coordinator in tracking CACFP requirements, maintaining provider information and all documents.
- Maintain all records in Teams/Shared drive

- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to, a telephone, fax machine, and copier.
