ROLE OVERVIEW

The Line Cook will have the passion for hospitality to exceed guest expectations by ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and cooking. The Line Cook is responsible for complying with all food handling and sanitation procedures.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Restaurant Operations

  • Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
  • Ensure food is stored and cooked at corrected temperature by regulating temperature of ovens broilers, grills, and roasters
  • Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock
  • Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies for food service
  • Demonstrate cooking skills and ability to follow established menus and recipes
  • Knowledge of proper nutritional requirements
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons
  • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils
  • Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned

  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Effectively listen and respond timely to business needs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ability to site to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to reach overhead and below knees including but not limited to bending, twisting, pulling and stooping
  • Have the flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Any other reasonable request/duty made by your Supervisor

KEY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Previous experience in a fast paced and high-volume restaurant environment
  • Currently have a valid Food Handlers Certificate
