Summary

We’re seeking a Director of Content to join our Spurs Studio team. The person in this role will lead all aspects of the concepting and development of all creative VOD content. They will help to craft our approach and will partner with Content Strategy to build a clear vision of how our brands translate to our creative content across broadcast, digital, social, creator networks and influencers. This person will push the creative boundaries for the Spurs using their experience from working with industry pioneers to push the way in which we think about our content to move us to become a top 25 global sports brand. Responsibilities

  • Work with the VP of Content & Distribution to develop content goals in alignment with our organizational and Brand goals.
  • Collaborate with the Partnership, Brand Lab and Marketing teams to build out the creative vision; define how our brand translates to our content and branded content narratives.
  • Lead and define storytelling efforts across the company. Work with executive partners from every department to guide storytelling and content approaches that align with our creative vision.
  • Coordinate and directionally guide the video production team; guide decision making and concept development ensuring consistency and alignment.
  • Create content video concepts in accordance with our key tentpole moments, brand campaigns, in game experiences, and partnership obligations. Be able to prioritize these concepts by the highest impact against our goals and drive focus for the creative teams.
  • Provide guidance for effective operational workflows – work closely with Content Operations to communicate what's working and what's not and ensure Spurs Studios has outstanding production capabilities – in and out of house. Stay up to date on the latest advancements in the technologies used in content production and champion our new Studio space at The Rock at La Cantera – our new Human Performance Campus.
  • Develop and maintain regional and national relationships with external agencies and identify support needs to be outsourced vs. what should be developed in house as well as deciding where the team needs to develop freelance support.
  • Direct activities for professional development of organizational team members, conducting creative workshops for staff members, implementing corrective strategies, and finding ways to grow and develop the content team.
  • Attend and speak at creative conferences and forums ensuring that the Spurs are staying at the forefront of creative trends and building our reputation externally.
  • Qualifications

    • 8 years as a Content or Creative Director in an agency or at in-house environments
    • Deep craft experience with highly developed ability to develop, produce, shoot and/or edit creative concepts that result in compelling campaigns and creative work
    • Ability to direct department work, whether through external agencies, freelance vendors, or internal production resources, ensuring best-in-class product is delivered on time and within budget
    • Proven ability building and leading teams in a self-directed way
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver presentations that articulate ideas in a compelling manner to build acceptance and support from executive team members
    • A relationship builder with proven ability to effectively collaborate, influence and make decisions in a partner driven, matrixed environment
    • Empathetic leader with experience driving positive cultural change in growth situations
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of basketball and soccer
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays.
    • Previous experience working in sports preferred
    • Experience with lifestyle or cultural-impact brands preferred
