SHIFT SUPERVISOR NON-EXEMPT
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supervising and directing the work of the Team Leader and Skilled Operators for the Line 4 Production Department. The duties outlined in this Job Description are expected to be completed in a professional, safe and quality minded manner, and per all Company Policies, Procedures and additional expectations as outlined by position Supervisor.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Perform job duties in compliance with site safety rules, with the intent of supporting an injury-free work environment.
- Assist the plant manager and safety manager with the implementation of the site safety systems.
- Notify the plant manager and/or safety manager of any safety systems malfunctions or violations.
- Demonstrate leadership and commitment to the site quality management system through personal accountability, systems integration, and risk-based thinking.
- Oversee the operation of an automated continuous production line and facilitate maximum capacity with minimum downtime.
- Direct the work of team members assigned to the shift.
- Ensure all training is being done and documented appropriately for new team members assigned to the shift.
- Document disciplinary issues and report to Production Manager and HR Manager.
- Complete shift reports with accuracy.
- Ensure all employees are using approved safe work practices.
- Be able to perform duties of a skilled operator, including making adjustments to line process to ensure high quality product using the HMI (Human Machine Interface) at all line stations.
- Anticipate and troubleshoot problems to correct or prevent interruptions to the line.
- Control production limits using HMI
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure consistent performance of quality checks and appropriate response to results.
- Routinely perform preventative maintenance and key part replacement when applicable.
- Maintain work area and equipment cleanliness.
- Work as a team with other operators and lab technician on each shift, maintaining communication using verbal skills (“hand-off” meetings), written skills (emails, logs, reports), and body language (during the shift)

Job Specific Requirements:
Physicality:
- Able to consistently lift items 50 – 100 lbs.
- Stand for 8 – 12 hours per shift
- Reach above head 4 hours per shift
Expected Work Schedule / Shift:
- Shift – A B C or D
- Night / Day
- Must report to shift and clock in prior to 5:30 am / pm
- Must perform a pre-shift meeting 5:50 am / pm
- Required Overtime based on business / staffing requirements
- Expectation of occasional voluntary or mandatory non-scheduled shift coverage
Education / Skills:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent GED
- AS Degree in Specific Field or BS/BA Preferred
- Two years of experience in continuous process manufacturing or a technical field.
- Certification in Career Field if Required
- Powered Industrial Truck or other equipment experience
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Communication Skills
- Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)
