Responsibilities
- Assist in leading and training operators in melt and cast operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
- Act as a liaison between operators and supervisors/management to support daily production goals and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Monitor inventory of supplies and materials, promptly reporting potential shortages or issues to supervisors, purchasing, or maintenance teams.
- Lead by example, providing guidance and support to new and existing employees, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Identify and recommend innovative methods, processes, and procedures to improve profitability, reduce scrap, and enhance workplace conditions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors to ensure clear understanding of production schedules and requirements.
- Make recommendations regarding personnel and equipment to support departmental goals.
- Engage with and mentor newer personnel, identifying opportunities for improvement and advancement.
- Train Cast Machine Operators and Induction Melters as needed.
- Learn and assist with time reporting and approval processes.
- Fill in for the Supervisor as needed, including leading shifts and planning for shift transitions.
- Demonstrate exemplary attendance, attitude, housekeeping, safety, and performance standards.
- Promote and support the companys employee ownership philosophy and core values.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3-5 years of foundry experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of foundry operations.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use foundry computer programs.
- Willingness to participate in leadership and management development programs.
- Ability to work with an external job coach if required.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, reach, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to safely maneuver machinery, cranes, and other equipment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and use of required personal protective equipment.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to high noise levels and airborne particles in a foundry environment.
- Mandatory use of hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes with metatarsal guards, and hearing protection.
- Regular physical activity including standing, walking, climbing, and lifting.
- Ability to read technical manuals and interpret instructions.
