Position Description:

The Warehouse Manager will ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring quality workmanship, keeping commitments to deadlines, delivering solutions, and demonstrating a positive attention to detail in meeting customers’ needs. The Warehouse Manager must be committed to successful leadership through accountability, team building, and knowledge sharing, and they must be dedicated to meeting company financial goals and objectives. The Plant Warehouse Manager is responsible for supervising all fabrication, shipping, receiving, maintenance, and administrative activities at the Warehouse level, ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety and quality control programs. This position manages budgets, trains and develops employees, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Reinforce company values: Safety, Respect, Integrity, Improve, Results, Service. Places Safety ahead of all other metrics.
  • Commit to keeping plant clean and organized.
  • Conduct/attend monthly safety meeting.
  • Understand importance of being visible on floor.
  • Ensure adequate staffing for all scheduled production equipment.
  • Manage and report how Warehouse operations affect P&L. As an example, OT and production supplies.
  • Manage the activities of the warehouse, following established procedures and approved processes.
  • Guide all production operations activities in order to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, deliver on time, quality products and maximize profit.
  • Directly manage the activities of the second Shift Supervisors, responsible for their training and development.
  • Actively lead team with a hands-on style, willing to roll up sleeves and lead by example. Good Coach and Leader.
  • Support Management decisions and bridges the need to balance company interests with employee interests.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes in methods and procedures to improve quality, efficiency, and delivery time.
  • Apply Company policies and assures adherence to Company procedures.
  • Screen, interview, and hire for openings in collaboration with HR.
  • Recognize performance accomplishments and opportunities of direct reports and be comfortable in providing constructive feedback.
  • Follow the normal disciplinary process, addresses and documents performance issues with employees.
  • Recommend and participate in termination process.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and salary reviews.
  • Be a resource for the Safety Coordinator in the development, training, and implementation a successful safety program that assures a safe working environment for all employees
  • Actively manage and route trucks/drivers for efficient delivery

Physical & Work Requirements

  • May be required to travel at times; duration is usually no longer than a couple of days.
  • 24 hour on-call responsibility.
  • Proficient Computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver's license is needed.
  • When working in the warehouse facility, conditions may be heated and/or unheated, dusty, and noisy within OSHA standards.
  • Support a multiple shift operation.
  • Knowledge and use of safety and PPE = Personal Protective Equipment required in all positions and of everyone working in the facility.

Required Background, Competencies & Expertise

  • Experience in the use and maintenance of the tools and equipment necessary for repairing and replacing mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
  • Experience working independently to troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve issues with process and plant warehouse equipment, and to develop and rapidly implement corrective actions.
  • Experience training teammates on warehouse operations, quality control procedures and the proper techniques of instrument calibration and maintenance.
  • Use of other tools and equipment may be required.
  • Work with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements.
  • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines.
  • Monitor production to resolve issues.
  • Outstanding communication ability.
  • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills.
  • Attention to detail and positive can-do attitude.
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
  • Leadership - A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others

Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise

  • 10-15 years of experience in a production or like management role
  • Experience in steel related equipment
