Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead a group of drivers, providing training and coaching.
- Enforce safety regulations and ensure all drivers adhere to safety protocols
- Compliance with all regulations
- Report any accidents, incidents, or safety violations promptly
- Maintain communication with Manager, transportation team, Sales and customers as required
- Equipment maintenance ensures all required pre- and post-trip inspections are being performed to the expected requirements and communicates with the appropriate repair vendor with any necessary needs.
- Oversee the proper recording of all daily records, HOS, DVIR, proof of deliveries, AlertMeter and fuel receipts
- Accurate recording of pay activities for the week to be reviewed and submitted to Corporate Payroll
- Utilize all transportation technology to include OTM, GeoTab, Lytx and Microsoft 365 products.
- Random truck inspections to ensure drivers are taking care of equipment
- Get Smith Systems training, company provided and utilize in driver coaching opportunities and training.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, moderately stressful, constantly changing day-to-day work environment
- Being available for your team of drivers as needed.
- Travel (0 -10%)
- For the 90-100% of time spent at the facility
- Approximately 70% of the time will be spent working in the facility office
- Approximately 30% of the time will be spent working outside the facility office and hands-on with your drivers providing them with assistance, support, and guidance

- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role in the transportation industry
- Proven communication skills
- Knowledge of safe operation of tractor/trailer
- Knowledge of securing cargo using straps, chains and other securing devices to prevent shifting during transit

- Understanding of each State’s load size and weight requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in logistics or related field
- Previous experience in the flatbed industry
- Knowledge of steel/metals business
- Salary is dependent on experience
