Sprung Structures is looking for a motivated CNC Machinist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with advanced CNC knowledge who is eager to continue developing their skills in a manufacturing environment.
The CNC Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery for production runs. The success of our CNC program relies on skilled employees and a dynamic shop environment to bring innovative projects to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming & Setup: Translate blueprints and CAD models into G-code using Fusion CAM software. Install fixtures, attachments, and cutting tools.
- Tool & Material Management: Select the appropriate cutting tools and develop custom fixtures when required.
- Machine Operation: Run production cycles, adjust feed and speed rates, and monitor machines for errors or irregularities.
- Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, to verify that first-run parts and subsequent pieces meet specified tolerance requirements.
- Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance and basic upkeep.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve programming or machining issues that arise during production. Implement corrective actions and optimize cycle times where possible.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean and organized work environment and strictly follow OSHA and company safety guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of shop math, geometry, blueprint reading, and G-code and M-code editing.
- Hard Skills: Hands-on experience with CNC machinery, tool offsets, CAM software, and precision measurement tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, mechanical aptitude, and a desire to contribute to continuous improvement.
