Please note this position is based in our Phoenix, AZ Support Office. The Sr. Replenishment & Allocation Analyst – Perishables is responsible for ensuring optimal inventory levels and flow of time-sensitive goods across the supply chain. This role supports sales, in stock, and shrink goals by analyzing demand, determining appropriate forecasting methodology (Sales/Str Demand/Hybrid) managing purchase orders, managing Supplier communication and collaboration related to accurate and cost-effective flow of goods and partnering cross-functionally with merchandising, transportation, store operations. The analyst plays a critical role in minimizing waste, improving freshness, and supporting promotional and seasonal strategies for perishable categories.
Overview of Responsibilities
Inventory & Replenishment Planning
- Overall responsibility to refine and/or develop forecasts by item for assigned categories
- Daily management of system exceptions to maximize fill-rates and freshness
- Create and manage purchase orders based on demand forecasts, promotional calendars, and shelf-life constraints.
- Analyze store-level demand, inventory turns, and unproductive inventory to inform allocation strategies.
- Monitor expiration dates and proactively manage aging inventory to reduce shrink and spoilage.
- Ensure timely and efficient flow of goods from suppliers to distribution centers and stores, with special attention to cold chain requirements.
- Minimize over-purchasing and reduce reliance on manager specials to clear excess or aging inventory.
Forecast Accuracy & Store-Level Analysis
- Evaluate and refine store-level forecasts, including baseline, seasonal, and promotional demand.
- Identify forecast inaccuracies and collaborate with planning and merchandising teams to improve forecast models.
- Monitor promotional performance and provide feedback on future forecasts to improve accuracy and inventory alignment.
- Analyze historical sales and inventory data to support proactive replenishment strategies.
Store Operations Partnership
- Partner with store operations to improve inventory handling practices and reduce shrink.
- Support training and adoption of system-generated order quantities to ensure alignment with forecasted demand.
- Provide feedback and insights to stores on inventory performance and opportunities for improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Category Managers and demand planners to align on inventory levels, days of supply, and turn goals specific to perishables.
- Support promotional, seasonal, and new item launch planning with accurate inventory planning and timing.
- Communicate sales and inventory risks to merchandising and leadership teams, especially for short-life products.
Supplier & Transportation Coordination
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure freshness standards, inbound fill rate, and lead time performance.
- Work with inbound transportation teams to reduce freight costs, improve load utilization, and maintain cold chain integrity.
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce spoilage during transit or storage.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, or replenishment, preferably with perishable goods.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and forecasting tools.
- Experience with cold chain logistics and perishables inventory management preferred.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to influence store-level practices and drive adoption of systemic inventory tools.
