The Senior Manager of Strategic Sourcing advances Sprouts’ priorities of freshness, cost competitiveness, and supply reliability. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing, this role owns end-to-end sourcing for assigned produce categories and translates strategy into execution across key cross-functional partners. The Senior Manager proactively anticipates business needs, identifies opportunities early, and develops sourcing solutions that strengthen long-term performance. Through strong supplier partnerships and coordinated cross-functional leadership, this role delivers results with speed, precision, and accountability.
Overview of Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of Sprouts’ produce sourcing strategy, identifying near- and mid-term cost, supply, and quality opportunities.
- Lead sourcing initiatives that improve freshness, cost competitiveness, and supply reliability across key produce categories.
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring performance against quality, freshness, service, and cost expectations.
- Conduct supplier business reviews, monitor KPIs, and implement corrective actions or improvement plans as needed.
- Support risk identification across supply regions and partner with leaders to develop mitigation and contingency plans.
- Collaborate with Category Management, Replenishment, Supply Chain, and QA to translate strategy into executable sourcing and supply plans.
- Drive continuous improvement in sourcing workflows, tools, and processes to enhance speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Support the development of standardized contracting, supplier segmentation, and performance frameworks.
- Analyze market trends, cost drivers, seasonality, and supply dynamics to inform sourcing decisions and forecasting.
- Participate in high-priority supplier negotiations and assist in securing competitive cost structures and supply commitments.
- Provide guidance and day-to-day leadership to sourcing staff or analysts, fostering strong category and supplier management capabilities.
- Prepare and deliver sourcing updates, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; 7–10 years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, or merchandising, preferably within produce or perishables.
- Strong understanding of produce markets, cost structures, seasonality, and supply chain dynamics with solid financial and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, negotiate effectively, and drive performance against KPIs.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; able to influence partners across Merchandising, Supply Chain, Replenishment, and QA.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, manage multiple priorities, and guide junior team members.
