Financial Analyst

This position reports into the FP&A group (Finance Manager) and will provide direct support for the Operations team. In this role, you will provide analysis to stakeholders in both FP&A and Operations, helping to provide relevant and timely data to assist in driving financial performance. You will partner with the Finance / Operations teams to create plans and monthly forecasts that accurately reflect the state of the business and provide a meaningful financial benchmark. You will provide ad hoc reporting & analytical support for business and finance leadership. This position requires a high level of detail and ability to understand and identify anomalies, communicating findings to your leadership accurately and timely. This also requires a team member that is self-motivated and reliable, with a base understanding of financial procedures and analysis.

• Forecasting, Planning and Budgeting

  • Executes on assigned processes to support the development of long-range financial planning, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts for the Operations team
  • Refreshes, modifies and understands the financial models that support accurate planning and provides financial performance insight to leadership
  • Supports P&L forecast processes and provides variance analysis for key business drivers

  Analysis

  • Analyze and articulate the key financial drivers of Sprouts Operations through leveraging existing processes and management support to finance leadership & direct business partners
  • Actively participates in gaining knowledge of business area, understanding how individual role & Operations team impacts Sprouts financials
  • Identifies and addresses with manager opportunities or issues that arise, providing ad hoc analytical support in line with business needs

  Reporting

  • Generate and distribute weekly & monthly reporting on key business metrics for department leadership
  • Partner with the business to understand variances to forecast / budget, understand and relay variance explanations to leadership
  • Maintains process documentation and leverages capabilities from Power BI, Workday, Adaptive, and other technology to implement reporting improvements recommended by management

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent working financial experience
• Prior internship or working experience preferred
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and works with manager to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Appropriate verbal and written communication skills, including summarizing key topics
• Maintains a positive outlook
• Exposure to budgeting, planning, modeling, and forecasting systems preferred
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and the analysis of financial data and statements preferred
• Actively engages in manager guided self-development
• Comfortable working directly with business partners, leveraging manager support as needed
• Grocery or Retail experience is preferred
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Basic experience in Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience in Workday, Adaptive, and PowerBI is preferred
