What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Physical Therapist and/or Speech Therapist position at Sprout Therapy Group?
We are seeking licensed Physical Therapists (PTs) and Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in New York State for a flexible summer opportunity in a dynamic outpatient pediatric clinic. This role involves working with children from birth through 18 years of age, providing comprehensive evaluations and evidence-based treatment in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.This position is ideal for clinicians who are passionate about pediatric care, value autonomy with flexibility, and are committed to delivering high-quality, patient- and family-centered services.Evaluation & Treatment
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric evaluations using standardized and clinical assessment tools appropriate to discipline (PT or SLP)
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based plans of care in accordance with APTA (PT) and ASHA (SLP) guidelines
- Provide therapeutic interventions that are functional, developmentally appropriate, and play-based
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to support optimal outcomes
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete timely, accurate documentation, including evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries
- Ensure compliance with New York State practice regulations, payer requirements, and clinic policies
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
Professional Practice (APTA & ASHA Alignment)
- Deliver care consistent with professional codes of ethics and standards of practice
- Utilize evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning in all aspects of care
- Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and continuous improvement
- Practice within scope while maintaining professional accountability and integrity
Patient & Family-Centered Care
- Provide education, guidance, and support to families and caregivers to promote carryover of therapy goals
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment for children of all abilities
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
Collaboration
- Collaborate with other therapists (PT, OT, SLP) to coordinate care and enhance outcomes
- Participate in team discussions or case reviews as appropriate
Qualifications
- Current, active New York State license as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
- Prior pediatric experience required
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-based environment
