JUNIOR BUSINESS MANAGER
JOB OVERVIEW
The Junior Business Manager supports Sprout leadership, particularly the COO and Business Manager, by assisting with research, onsite training, operational administration, and business optimization. This role is designed as a developmental, support-focused position that contributes to strengthening day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance, and enhancing overall business performance. The ideal candidate maintains a solid understanding of restaurant operations and California employment practices, demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills, and contributes positively to Sprout’s culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational & Administrative Support
- Assists Sprout leadership in aligning people strategies with business goals to support smooth day-to-day operations.
- Works under the direction of the COO and Business Manager to support reservation system updates, basic product inventory coordination, and labor reporting preparation.
- Partners with onsite managers to help gather data for staffing forecasts, scheduling optimization, and labor efficiency improvements.
- Help maintain relationships with courier platforms and CRM partners (e.g., Doordash, Uber, OpenTable, Tock) and supports training needs as directed.
- Collaborate with managers on preliminary tip pool data gathering, policy updates, and documentation for leadership review.
- Provides metrics, reports, and simple data analysis to support operational and financial decision-making.
- Attends financial meetings as needed and supports project-based analysis under direction.
Compliance, Auditing & HR Coordination
- Assists in routine operational audits related to timekeeping, payroll, and scheduling practices to help ensure risk mitigation and compliance.
- Supports preparation, setup, and coordination of training classes, employee meetings, orientations, and staff workshops.
- Assists onsite managers with server access, file organization, and basic training on information storage and security protocols.
- Supports pre-opening tasks (e.g., job description drafts, service manual updates, onboarding documentation, POS setup, R365 tasks).
- Partners with HR to support compliance with California labor laws, wage/hour regulations, meal and rest break standards, and related policies.
- Supports HR in the field as needed for coaching, training, or termination sessions.
- Assists in the recruiting process using R365 ATS: posting jobs, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and managing candidate communication.
- Prepares offer letters and assist with onboarding documentation as directed.
- Supports managers in coaching, feedback documentation, and early-stage disciplinary action processes, under HR guidance.
Project & Field Support
- Completes short- and long-term projects as assigned by the COO and Business Manager.
- Coordinates schedules, meetings, and field visits, balancing administrative duties with onsite operational presence.
- Assists with logistics and deliveries involving partners, vendors, contractors, and internal teams to promote seamless operations.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIORS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred.
- 2–3 years of relevant administrative or coordination experience; restaurant or hospitality experience strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years’ restaurant management experience.
- Familiarity with high-volume restaurant operations; exposure to fine dining or accoladed environments is a plus.
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Collaborative working style; open to feedback, learning, and cross-functional teamwork.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines with supervision.
- Professional conduct, appearance, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS & EXPECTATIONS
This role operates in both office and in-field restaurant environments, using standard office equipment including laptops, photocopiers, and smartphones. This is a full-time position, generally scheduled Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required to support business needs, trainings, or openings.
