What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ag Equipment Operator position at Sproule Farms?
Perform duties such as: cultivate, plant, fertilize, irrigate, spray, and harvest crops including durum, corn, potatoes, dry beans, rye, soybeans, spring wheat, and sugar beets. Operate and drive farm machinery and vehicles, much of which is equipped with GPS and autosteer systems. Drive and operate self-propelled combines and grain carts. Load and unload commodities into containers, conveyors, grain trucks, and storage facilities including bins, silos, and piles. Perform tillage operations such as plowing, disking, cultivating, and soil preparation. Mix and apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers to crops. Clean grain bins, equipment, and work areas, and maintain grounds and facilities. Load inputs and transport to employer’s fields; load employer’s crops and transport to fields and storage facilities in close proximity to the farm. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment as well as farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Use cloud-based input and crop tracking applications; maintain invoices and paperwork associated with crop production and equipment; categorize, edit, and reconcile grain tickets. Mix materials and chemicals for planter and sprayer; attach implements using hand tools; use skid steer loaders and yard equipment as needed. May drive farm trucks on-farm and to nearby storage or processing locations.
