What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver / Material Handler position at SPRINGS FABRICATION LLC?
SUMMARY
The Driver / Material Handler role is responsible for the safe, timely transportation of finished goods and work in process (WIP) materials using Springs Fabrication company vehicles. This position primarily supports local customer deliveries and subcontractor transfers to ensure uninterrupted production flow and on time shipment performance. When not actively driving, this role will support Material Handler activities to assist receiving, staging, and internal material movement
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES other duties may be assigned
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES (DRIVING)
- Operate company owned trucks to:
- Deliver finished goods to local customers
- Transport WIP materials to and from approved local subcontractors
- Ensure loads are properly secured, protected, and accompanied by correct paperwork
- Coordinate pickup and delivery timing with:
- Supply Chain
- Production
- Quality
- Subcontractors and customers
- Perform pre trip and post trip vehicle inspections; report maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional condition of company vehicles
- Represent Springs Fabrication in a professional manner when interfacing with customers, suppliers, and subcontract partners
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITES (MATERIAL HANDLING SUPPORT)
When driving demand allows, support Material Handler functions including:
- Loading and unloading inbound and outbound shipments
- Staging materials for production and shipping
- Assisting with internal material movement using forklifts or pallet jacks
- Supporting packaging and shipping efforts for same day shipments
- Maintaining material identification, segregation, and traceability per company procedures
- Assisting with physical inventory counts or cycle counting as directed
SAFETY, QUALITY AND COMPLIANCE
- Operate vehicles and material handling equipment in compliance with safety policies
- Follow all applicable traffic laws, DOT requirements (non CDL), and company procedures
- Support material traceability, identification, and handling requirements per QMS
- Report incidents, near misses, or non conformances promptly
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- One year experience as a Material Handler, Warehouse Associate, or similar position using warehouse equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks).
- One year of experience with driving up to a 26,000lb GVWR truck and trailer
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must be able to obtain company forklift operation and crane certification within 30 days of accepting position.

- communicate issues and derive resolution to basic issues.
