What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Safety/Risk Coordinator position at Springhill Medical Center?
Patient Safety/ Risk Coordinator :
- Establishes and coordinates a System wide patient safety program that fosters ongoing improvement in patient safety and complies with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Works with executives, management, hospital and medical staff to develop a culture of safety and medical error prevention. Investigates safety related incident reporting, escalating as appropriate.
- Conducts risk assessments, collecting and analyzing documentation, statistics, and reports; Responsible for coordinating activities resulting in accreditation; Drive Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Effect Analysis processes.
- Prepares and presents reports on patient safety metrics, compliance, and outcomes to leadership. Evaluates the effectiveness of patient safety interventions through data analysis and feedback.
- Engages with external organizations and agencies to stay current on patient safety trends and best practices.
- Conducts thorough assessments of current patient safety practices and identifies areas for improvement.
- Responsible for advising, reviewing, and assisting in implementing risk management plans; Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and reducing the risk of injury to patients, staff, and visitors and the risk of loss to the department.
- Interacts with legal counsel, consultants, and auditors as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required .
Job Requirements:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
1-year Patient Safety/Risk Management experience preferred.
Certification in field such as Certified Professional In-Patient Safety (CPPS), Certified Patient Safety Professional (CPSP), ASHRM Patient Safety Certification Program, and/or Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management.
