Duties

• Develop, execute, and evaluate comprehensive infection prevention and control programs tailored to the facility’s needs.
• Conduct routine surveillance of infection trends through meticulous data collection and management using medical records and microbiology reports.
• Lead staff education initiatives on aseptic techniques, OSHA regulations, HIPAA compliance, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Monitor patient care areas for adherence to infection control protocols, including patient observation and physiology assessments.
• Review documentation in medical records for accuracy and compliance with care plans, ensuring thorough infection-related data is captured.
• Collaborate with management to update policies based on epidemiology insights and evolving public health guidelines.
• Investigate infection outbreaks or incidents by analyzing microbiology data and implementing corrective actions promptly.
• Oversee patient monitoring processes to identify early signs of infection or complications related to infectious diseases.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements to maintain a safe environment for all healthcare personnel.

Experience

• Proven nursing experience with a focus on infectious disease care in hospital settings or similar environments.
• Critical care experience in acute care units, Level I Trauma Centers, or Level II Trauma Centers is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated expertise in infection control practices within medical-surgical units or assisted living facilities.
• Strong knowledge of microbiology, anatomy, physiology, epidemiology, and public health principles related to infectious diseases.
• Experience managing data collection systems such as MDS (Minimum Data Set) or other healthcare information platforms.
• Leadership skills with the ability to guide teams in infection prevention strategies and foster a culture of safety.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, documentation review processes, and medical records management.
