Central Sterile Processing Technician – Gardner, MA

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Central Sterile Technician for a contract opportunity in Gardner, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will have strong sterile processing experience, excellent knowledge of sterilization standards, and a current CRCST certification.
Responsibilities
- Process, clean, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Operate steam and gas sterilizers and perform required biological and chemical testing.
- Prepare surgical trays and specialty procedure items according to established standards.
- Maintain proper sterilization records, logs, and sterility dates.
- Clean and disinfect scopes using manual cleaning and high-level disinfection processes.
- Inspect instruments and equipment for proper function and report issues appropriately.
- Maintain adequate inventory and restock Central Sterile and patient care supply areas.
- Apply aseptic techniques and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Support operating room workflow, surgical instrumentation needs, and department throughput.
- Assist with orientation and training of new staff and participate in departmental education.
- Participate in quality improvement and performance improvement activities.
- Communicate effectively with OR staff, supervisors, nurses, and other departments.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- CRCST certification required.
- Minimum 6 months of Central Sterile/Sterile Processing experience.
- Knowledge of IAHCSMM standards and sterile processing procedures.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be comfortable with frequent standing, reaching, handling, and bending.
