Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursing staff to deliver exceptional patient care aligned with clinical protocols and organizational policies
- Coordinate patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and monitor progress to ensure optimal health outcomes
- Oversee medication administration, IV infusions, catheterization, wound care, and other complex procedures with precision and adherence to safety standards
- Ensure accurate medical documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Conduct regular staff performance evaluations, provide mentorship, and facilitate ongoing education to promote professional growth
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, case managers, and ancillary staff to coordinate comprehensive patient services
- Manage unit operations including staffing schedules, resource allocation, infection control measures, and emergency response protocols
Skills
- Extensive experience working in acute care settings such as ICU, Emergency Medicine, Level I/II Trauma Centers, or Medical-Surgical units
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for medical documentation and patient management
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated supervising or nurse management experience in fast-paced environments
- In-depth knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures and billing processes
- Expertise in critical care procedures including ventilator management, airway management, spinal taps, cardiac catheterization, and sterile techniques
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, specimen collection/processing and diagnostic evaluation
- Familiarity with specialized care areas such as geriatrics (memory/dementia care), behavioral health, pediatric units (PICU), neonatal ventilator management or assisted living settings
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, family education on health coaching or discharge planning
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), IV insertion/injection administration and infection control practices
- Experience working with diverse populations including individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges; knowledge of workers’ compensation law is a plus
