What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Technician/Registered Behavior Technician position at Springfield School District 186?
HOURS PER DAY: 7 (Includes 30 min unpaid lunch)
DAYS PER YEAR: 191 (Which Includes 1 Day of CPI Training and 40 hour RBT Training)
Reports to: BCBA
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Any person who is 18 years of age for Pre-K through 5th Grade or 20 years of age or over for 6th Grade through 12th Grade, well mannered, well groomed, punctual, dependable, enjoys working with children and who meets the basic requirements listed below.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must hold and ELS Para License and/or Substitute Teacher License
- Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification, or the willingness to complete district-provided RBT coursework and exam within 90 days of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective written communication skills
- One or more years of experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other related disabilities
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- If not a current RBT: complete all required RBT coursework approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), RBT competency, and pass RBT exam in 90 days
- The 40-hour coursework will be paid by the district but must be completed on personal time
- Complete two paid days of competency/skill practice during SSS ESY 26-27 with our district BCBA’s
- Ensure that 5% of monthly worked hours are supervised by the supervising BCBA
- Adhere to the BACB’s RBT Ethical Code, and maintain professional boundaries with students and families
- Meet and submit requirements to renew RBT certification annually
- Work alongside BCBAs to provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services in classroom and 1:1 settings
- Accurately collect data daily on behavior and skill acquisition goals
- Work in the STRIVE classroom to provide general ABA support and model implementation of the STAR curriculum
- Implement BIP procedures with fidelity, supervised by the BCBA
- Implement and model ABA strategies with fidelity including: Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Functional Communication Training (FCT), Naturalistic Environment Training (NET), positive reinforcement strategies, prompting strategies, differential reinforcement, etc
- Dissemination of ABA knowledge in the STRIVE classrooms
- Implement all treatment with fidelity by scoring at least 80% on ongoing supervision forms (completed by the supervising BCBAs
- Complete professional and clinical session notes as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
SALARY:
$24.22 Per Hour (Step 1/1 – 26-27)
$25.71 Per Hour (Step 1 60 – 26-27)
$26.78 Per Hour (Step 1 BA – 26-27)
Plus $1,200.00 Stipend paid over 3 years each December. To receive each stipend installment, you must complete the entire year in the hired position of RBT.
