GENERAL PURPOSE

 

 

The 504 Process Coordinator is responsible for ensuring district compliance to Section 504 requirements and related state and federal laws, oversees the implementation and maintenance of 504 plans, including eligibility determination, accommodation development and progress monitoring, works with various stakeholders (teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) to support students with disabilities, develops and delivers training to staff on Section 504 procedures, documentation, and best practices, maintains accurate records of 504 plans and related documentation, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, leads meetings related to Section 504, including eligibility meetings and accommodation planning sessions, and regularly reviews 504 plans and student progress to ensure effectiveness and compliance.

 

The 504 Process Coordinator may report to the Director of Student Access and Opportunity or another relevant administrator.

 

This role may involve working with students of all ages and disabilities.

 

The coordinator may also be involved in investigating complaints related to Section 504.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitates meetings and processes (e.g. transition among buildings, grade levels, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining programs and services which provide accommodations for students meeting eligibility under Section 504.
  • Monitors and reviews Section 504 documentation for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established legal requirements including 504 FAPE plans, success plans, etc.
  • Oversees a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. evaluation reports, services plans, manifestation determinations, updating District 504 manual, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Assists in the completion of documentation for the purpose of delivering services in compliance to established guidelines, rules, laws and regulations.
  • Collaborates with a variety of district staff and outside entities for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services assisting in documentation and legal compliance.
  • Coordinates program components, support needs and material as assigned for the purpose of assisting teachers and delivering services which conform to established guidelines.
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Participates in meetings, processes, etc. for the purpose of implementing and maintaining programs and services which achieve the district's desired objectives.
  • Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. 504 plans, student achievement reports, correspondence, internal audits, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Presents information on a variety of topics for the purpose of communicating information and/or gaining feedback.
  • Researches a variety of topics (e.g. current practices, policies, education codes, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and/or recommendations and/or addressing a variety of program requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as required/assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, required.
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.
  • Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

  • Missouri Teacher Certification, required.
  • Qualified, as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues, draw conclusions and create action plans.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include special education and IEP documentation processes and procedures; behavior patterns/characteristics of students specific to disability; assessment instruments and techniques; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; methods of instruction and training.
  • Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.
  • Ability to independently work with others under a wide variety of circumstances; analyzing data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods.
  • Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment.
  • Ability of independent problem solving with data, frequently requiring to analyze issues and create action plans; problem solving with data frequently requiring an independent interpretation of guidelines and problem solving with equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking/problem solving to improve work processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; set priorities; meet deadlines and schedules; work with detailed information; and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to set high expectations for self and others; set and monitor progress toward goals; and utilize and offer effective feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work as part of a team; adapt to changing priorities; and apply logical processes and analytical skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.

 

Salary : $45,917 - $83,650
