Family Engagement Coordinator (Central Office)

Brief Job Description

The Family Engagement Coordinator serves as a central office liaison supporting district-wide family engagement efforts and strengthening communication between families, schools, and Springfield Public Schools departments. This position works to address family concerns through the Parent Concern Process, coordinate family engagement initiatives, support district events, connect families with resources, and manage communication platforms including social media. The Family Engagement Coordinator helps ensure that families receive timely information, appropriate support, and access to services that promote student success and positive family-school partnerships.

 

Primary Functions of the Job

Parent Concern Process & Family Support

  1. Serve as a primary point of contact for families seeking assistance through the district's Parent Concern Process.
  2. Receive, document, monitor, and follow up on family concerns to ensure timely resolution.
  3. Communicate with district departments, school staff, and families to facilitate effective problem-solving and customer service.
  4. Maintain accurate records of family concerns, referrals, and outcomes using district tracking systems.
  5. Provide families with information about district programs, policies, procedures, and available supports.
  6. Assist families in navigating district services and connect them with appropriate resources.

 District Family Engagement Initiatives

  1. Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of district-wide family engagement activities and events.
  2. Promote Springfield Parent Academy workshops and other district family engagement opportunities.
  3. Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and district departments to increase family participation in educational programs and activities.
  4. Assist in developing outreach strategies to engage diverse families across the district.
  5. Support family engagement capacity-building efforts for parents, caregivers, and school staff.

 Communications & Outreach

  1. Develop and distribute family-friendly communications that provide important district information and resources.
  2. Manage and maintain the department's social media platforms, ensuring content is current, engaging, and aligned with district priorities.
  3. Create promotional materials and digital content to increase awareness of family engagement opportunities and district initiatives.
  4. Monitor social media engagement and respond appropriately to inquiries in collaboration with department leadership.
  5. Assist with website updates, newsletters, email communications, and other outreach efforts.
  6. Support translation and language access efforts to ensure communications reach diverse families.

 Technology & Data Management

  1. Utilize district technology platforms to manage family engagement activities and track outcomes.
  2. Maintain accurate records, databases, reports, and documentation related to family engagement efforts.
  3. Analyze participation and engagement data to support continuous improvement of programs and services.
  4. Assist with virtual family meetings, webinars, workshops, and other technology-based engagement opportunities.
  5. Troubleshoot basic technology issues related to family engagement events and communications.
  6. Develop reports and presentations using Microsoft Office and other district software applications.

 Collaboration & Relationship Building

  1. Work collaboratively with district departments, school administrators, counselors, community partners, and family-serving organizations.
  2. Participate in district family engagement events and activities.
  3. Foster positive relationships that strengthen partnerships between families and Springfield Public Schools.
  4. Represent the department at community meetings, workshops, and outreach events as assigned.
  5. Support initiatives that promote equitable family engagement and culturally responsive practices throughout the district.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Job

  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, district departments, and community organizations to support family engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support the district's Parent Concern Process.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, promoting, and evaluating district family engagement events and programs.
  • Manage department social media accounts and digital communication platforms.
  • Create and disseminate family engagement communications and outreach materials.
  • Attend professional development and family engagement training opportunities.
  • Maintain confidential records and documentation in accordance with district policies.
  • Support district-wide family engagement goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide excellent customer service to families, staff, and community stakeholders.

 

Educational & Job Experience Requirements

  1. Associate's Degree from an accredited college preferred; Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, Human Services, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of two years of experience in family engagement, community outreach, communications, customer service, education, or a related field.
  3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families, staff, and community partners in a professional, friendly, and supportive manner.
  4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  6. Experience using social media platforms for professional communication and community engagement.
  7. Ability to create and manage digital content, newsletters, presentations, and outreach materials.
  8. Experience working with databases, tracking systems, and technology platforms.
  9. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a diverse educational and multicultural environment.
  10. Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  11. Access to reliable transportation as required.
  12. Bilingual skills highly desirable.
