The Springfield Jewish Community Center seeks qualified individuals to fill Opening Lifeguard positions. Opening Lifeguards are responsible for surveying our indoor swimming pool and supervising swimmers during free swim and while participating in instructional swim and aquatics programs. Their duties include opening and preparing pool area for operations, speaking with swimmers to enforce swimming rules, keeping track of each swimmer in the water, administering first aid to injured swimmers and performing water rescues when needed.Opening Shifts are available 5:00am-9:00am, Monday through FridayCompensation based on experience. Range is 16.50-18.50 per hour. Opening shift has a $1.50 differential added.Primary Responsibilities & Duties:Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled shiftClosely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout shiftDirecting swimmers out of water in dangerous conditionsEnforce rules and regulations at the poolClosely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safeOrganizing and overseeing daily pool operationsProviding swim lessons when applicable or assignedMaintaining a clean pool environmentSubmit reports as required and keep recordsRender First-Aid when necessary, in view of Department PolicyMinimum Age Requirements: 18 years old (opening shift)Qualifications: Must currently hold Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
