POSITION:               Business Connect Center Assistant

LOCATION:              Republic Branch – 921 N Lindsey Avenue – Republic, MO

Classification:        Part Time

Salary Track:           Library Worker II

FLSA Status:           Non-exempt

PAY RATE:              $15.32 per hour July 1 increase $18.11

This is a part-time position, approximately 24 hours per week. Candidates must be available to work any hours the library branch is open. The Republic branch is open Monday through Friday 7:30am to 7:00pm and Saturday, 9:30am to 6:00pm.  As a condition of employment, work schedules may change as necessary to best provide user services and to meet the Library’s responsibility to the citizens of Greene County.

This position requires high school graduation or completion of a high school equivalency program. All candidates for employment must be at least 16 years old.

Position Summary

The Business Connect Center Assistant supports the daily operations of the Library primarily in the areas of the Business Connect Center and the Friends of the Library Auditorium. This performs a variety of tasks including patron assistance with the Library’s business-related resources, the operation of technical equipment, and reserving meeting rooms for patron use.

Essential Functions

·         Greets patrons and provides proactive assistance at the public service desk/phone/email

·         Helps patrons with general reference, business and entrepreneurial reference,

·         Schedules meetings rooms

·         Assists with office equipment and audio-visual technology in the Business Connect Center and the Friends of the Library Auditorium

·         Promotes library services, programs & offerings

·         Completes the steps to achieve the Library’s Bronze Level Business Connector certification within the first 2 years of employment

·         May act as PIC (Person In Charge) -may act as building manager as assigned to handling safety and security matters as they arise

·         Provides handoff to various other specialists when appropriate

·         May perform public speaking, programming, and tours with the guidance of the Business Connect Manager

·         Interprets and implements the Library’s General Conduct Policy

·         Consistently punctual for work and meetings. Completes assigned duties in a timely manner

·         Exemplifies professional attitude and demeanor while engaging constituents, including the ability to work and interact with others in a cooperative, pleasant, and constructive manner

Skills/Job Knowledge

·         Excellent telephone, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

·         Strong computer and other related technology skills

·         Working knowledge of business and entrepreneurship

·         Teaching or training experience in a technology environment helpful

Education/Experience

·         High School diploma or equivalent 

·         One-year public service experience required

·         Education including business or related field and/or prior successful work with the business community preferred

Contact

·         Daily in-person and telephone contact with the public

·         Works closely with other library personnel

·         Contact with all system departments and branches

Supervision

·         Supervised by Business Connect Center Department Manager

Physical Demands

·         Performs bending, squatting, kneeling and reaching from floor level to 6 feet in height

·         May stand or sit for long periods of time

·         Displays good coordination and mobility

·         Routine lifting of library materials weighing up to 30 lbs.

Working Environment

·         Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general library environment

Miscellaneous Requirements

·         Must pass a security background check
