The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting in the dispensing of outpatient medications to Springfield Clinic patients.
Job Relationships
- This position reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy.
- Enter prescriptions into the Liberty system.
- Troubleshoot prescription issues with Insurance companies and Liberty support staff.
- Take copayment from patients and deposit daily.
- Maintain cleanliness of Pharmacy area and related equipment.
- Properly handle and dispose of hazardous drugs and waste materials.
- Conduct routine medication inventories and assist with inventory control of medications.
- Assist in ordering supplies and medications. Receive and restock medications.
- Maintain any necessary QA logs, including but not limited to inventory logs, remittance statements, cleaning logs, temperature logs, and others.
- Participate in training and orientation of new employees as needed.
- Technician will be expected to cross-train to cover for Chemotherapy Admixture Technicians.
- Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
- Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
- Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or GED required.
- Minimum one (1) year of IV chemotherapy compounding experience is preferred, but not required.
- Minimum two (2) years of retail pharmacy experience is required.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is required.
- Skilled in entering prescriptions into Liberty system is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of chemotherapy medications and their usages is required.
- Ability to efficiently operate a standard office equipment including a personal computer, computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel), telephone, fax machine, and any other operating system utilized for this position is required.
- Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
