Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Assistant Custodian at SHS for the 2025-2026 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. As a Assistant Custodian you are required to:
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Train and/or experience which evidences a knowledge of custodial and basic maintenance techniques.
As a Assistant Custodian you will:
- Ensuring cleanliness of classrooms, offices, hallways, and steps and recycles materials according to the recycling program
- Cleans restrooms and locker rooms daily and replenishes supplies
- Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities and custodial equipment including groundskeeping equipment
- Sets up and takes down special equipment for assemblies, special programs and other activities
- Operates necessary equipment to promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment
- Assists in the cafeteria during lunch, and assists in cleaning the kitchen
- Guards property against fire, theft, and illegal entry and obeys all safety regulations at all times
- Provides security for buildings by attending to the physical plant during open hours and secures all doors, windows, and restricted areas during closed hours and responds to Sonitrol calls in the absence of the Head Custodian
- Closes the building by shutting off all lights, locking all doors and windows, and unlocks doors as required
- Performs a variety of tasks to the grounds surrounding the building including mowing, trimming shrubbery, removing snow and ice, picking up and emptying receptacles, etc.
- Lifts and moves equipment, furniture, supplies, or materials (e.g., weight up to 50 lbs, and distances up to 50 yards)
What We Offer:
As a contracted employee, this position works 8 hours per day, 260 days per year.
Monday - Friday 10pm-7am
Starting salary is $19.91 per hour.
