Position Summary

Mentors are to provide role modeling and assistance to people receiving services throughout all aspects of their lives across educational, residential and community environments. Mentors will assist the person on SUNY Oneonta's campus to engage and explore campus resources, dining on campus, volunteering, attending events and clubs, etc. Mentors will also provide support for activities of daily living (ADL’s) including personal care, promote choice and independence while providing protective oversight. Demonstrate compliance with all Springbrook policies and State regulations to ensure safe and smooth operation when attending the Amenity of their choice,

The person enrolled in Springbrook Aspire will have the opportunity to work with mentors, partnering for social events, academics, and other on and off campus activities.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

• Implements Staff Actions Plans: including safeguard information, providing guidance and encouragement at all times.
• Demonstrates positive examples in dress, communication, social behaviors, and healthy decision making.
• Learns to communicate effectively with the Mentor, students, develops rapport, and relationship of trust.
• Respects each person’s choices and needs.
• Maintains positive relationships with the person and their natural supports, and other staff.
• Immediately reports incidents of abuse, neglect or other reportable issues.
• Attends all Springbrook required trainings.
• Documents service delivery contemporaneously using agency software only.
• Adheres to schedule determined by person and their team of equals
• All other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications, Skills And Knowledge Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of computer software.
• Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
