Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Utilize Open Dental or accurate documentation of treatments, medical records, and medical coding.
- Ensure strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Take and interpret medical imaging, including intraoral X-rays, supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with dental terminology standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and infection control measures are followed diligently.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments; experience with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Proficiency in Open Dental and familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs assessment, and medical imaging techniques relevant to dental practice.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with team members seamlessly.
