In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the medical records department, ensuring that all medical records are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
Medical Records Supervisor Responsibilities & Duties
- Supervise and manage the medical records department and its employees.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all medical records.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and quality of medical record keeping.
- Maintain and update the medical records system to meet changing regulations and requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient record keeping processes.
- Provide training and support to medical records staff.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
Medical Records Supervisor Qualifications & Skills
- 3 years of experience in medical records management or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Experience working with and an understanding of medical coding
- Knowledge of medical records regulations, and health care laws
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with medical record-keeping software
