The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to recipes and hotel standards while ensuring quality and consistency. This position assists in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and may support training of new kitchen staff as needed.
SCOPE OF WORK TEAM
- Reports to Sous Chef/Director of Food & Beverage
- Supports food & beverage operational needs for the property
- Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes and portion sizes.
- Ensure food is prepared with proper presentation, flavor, and consistency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation and kitchen.
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations.
- Monitor inventory and inform supervisors of shortages or needs.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen team to ensure timely service.
- Assist with training and guiding Prep Cooks and Line Cooks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Sous Chef of Director of Food & Beverage.
- Prior Experience:
- 1-2 years of cooking experience in a hotel or restaurant setting.
- IT Expertise:
- Knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, outlook) and web analytics tools is preferred.
- Education:
- High School education or equivalent.
- Subject Expertise:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
- Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.
- Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.
- Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
- Travel required: None.
- Hours Required: Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
