Job Summary
The Dietary Server is responsible for providing gracious dining service to residents. Duties include serving and handling food in accordance with federal/state regulations and company policies and procedures. This position may assist with food preparation as directed by the cook. The Dietary Server is also responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen, food storage areas, and dining service areas. They may also assist in the receiving, rotation and storage of products.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
- Ensure that all food is handled safely and meets hygiene standards.
- Help maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Support residents during meal times by providing excellent customer service and ensuring their needs are met.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, dietitians, and nursing staff regarding residents' dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Participate in food production activities as needed, including portioning meals and preparing snacks.
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring food supplies and reporting shortages.
- Genuine concern for and ability to work with the elderly
- Follows directions and graciously handles complaints
- Can juggle multiple tasks without frustration
- Must be able to utilize standard precaution knowledge and infection control measures where required

- Nights and weekends
Experience
- Experience working in a food establishment serving the public or a customer service position. Previous experience in the food service industry or as a Dietary server is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of dietetics, nutrition, and food handling practices is a plus.
- Experience working in assisted living or healthcare settings is advantageous.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with residents and staff.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
Education:
Currently enrolled in school or high school graduate/GED
