Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides routine daily nursing care and services to residents in accordance with each resident’s assessment and care plan. CNAs assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), promote resident comfort and safety, and support licensed nursing staff to ensure quality care in compliance with federal, state, and facility standards.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesResident Care
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and ambulation.
- Reposition residents at least every two hours or as directed to prevent skin breakdown.
- Provide safe transfers using proper body mechanics and lift equipment as trained.
- Assist with feeding and hydration while observing aspiration precautions.
- Measure and record vital signs, height, weight, intake and output as assigned.
- Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or mental condition to the nurse immediately.
- Provide comfort, support, and emotional reassurance to residents and families.
Safety & Infection Control
- Follow all infection prevention and control policies, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized resident environment.
- Use equipment properly and report malfunctions or hazards promptly.
- Adhere to fall prevention and resident safety protocols.
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately document care provided in accordance with facility policy.
- Report incidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences promptly.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families.
- Participate in shift report and care team communication.
Resident Rights & Compliance
- Protect resident rights, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
- Follow abuse prevention policies and immediately report suspected abuse or neglect.
- Comply with all facility policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.
QualificationsRequired
- Current California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, standing, walking, and bending.
Preferred
- Experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or Post Acute setting.
- Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR).
- CPR/BLS certification.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and assisting residents.
- Exposure to infectious diseases, body fluids, and cleaning chemicals.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or support up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
Pay: From $35,360.00 per year
