ob Summary:
The Assistant to the Director of Staff Development supports the DSD in planning, organizing, and implementing educational programs and competency evaluations for nursing staff to ensure compliance with Title 22, CDPH, and facility policies. This role assists in maintaining employee training records, coordinating orientation for new hires, and promoting continuous professional growth among all facility staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the DSD with coordinating and conducting orientation, in-services, and annual training for licensed nurses, CNAs, and other facility staff.
- Help maintain education and competency records per Title 22 and CDPH requirements.
- Support the DSD in developing and updating training materials, lesson plans, and checklists.
- Track completion of mandatory in-services (infection control, residents’ rights, abuse prevention, safety, etc.).
- Assist with scheduling and organizing training sessions, including setup of audiovisual equipment and handouts.
- Help evaluate staff performance during competency checks and report findings to the DSD/DON.
- Maintain and update the staff development calendar and employee training logs.
- Support with PPE, infection control education, and enhanced barrier precautions compliance.
- Serve as a liaison between the DSD and department supervisors to coordinate staff education needs.
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks related to staff development, such as filing, data entry, and communication with staff.
- Assist during state and federal surveys by providing requested training documentation.
- Participate in QAPI and safety meetings as assigned.
- Uphold facility policies, residents’ rights, and confidentiality standards at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Prior experience in staff training, education, or administrative support desirable.
- Knowledge of Title 22, CDPH regulations, and infection control standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills (Word, Excel, PCC or similar systems).
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to move throughout the facility and attend meetings or training sessions as needed.
