Join our dynamic team as a Mobile Crisis Responder, serving Alberta , Lawrencville, South Hill , and Brunswick VA. where you will play a vital role in providing immediate, compassionate support to individuals experiencing mental health crises in their communities. This energetic and impactful position offers the opportunity to make a real difference by delivering crisis intervention, behavioral health assessments, and short-term stabilization services directly in the field. As a key member of our mental health response team, you will work with diverse populations, including high-risk groups, children, and individuals with co-occurring disorders, ensuring they receive timely, respectful care that promotes safety and recovery. This paid position is ideal for motivated professionals passionate about community-based mental health services and crisis management.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to mental health crisis calls within designated community areas, providing immediate assessment and stabilization.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations utilizing clinical documentation standards, DSM-5 criteria, and ICD coding to determine appropriate interventions.
  • Implement de-escalation techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to manage acute behavioral crises safely and effectively.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, law enforcement, and family members to coordinate care plans and ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Collect detailed data on patient interactions, medical records, and treatment outcomes using Electronic Health Records (EHR) management systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on mental health counseling, grief counseling, addiction counseling, or behavioral therapy as needed.
  • Support high-risk populations through case management activities including intake assessments, patient care planning, and follow-up services.

Skills

  • Proven experience in crisis intervention, behavioral health, or mental health counseling with a focus on acute care settings.
  • Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and trauma-informed care including PTSD care.
  • Expertise working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and those with co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, psychiatric patient care standards, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding systems for accurate documentation and billing.
  • Excellent de-escalation techniques combined with skills in crisis management to ensure safety during high-stakes situations.
  • Ability to perform patient assessments using DSM-5 criteria while maintaining compliance with clinical documentation standards.
  • Experience working within HIPAA guidelines for confidential medical records management and electronic health records (EHR).
