Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers and flatbeds ,following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Drive over-the-road (OTR) routes, managing long-distance deliveries with professionalism and attention to detail
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport
- Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to follow optimal routes while adapting to traffic conditions and delivery schedules
- Transport a variety of cargo types such as freight requiring specialized equipment
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and vehicle inspections in compliance with FMCSA regulations
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips; report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure safety and compliance
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving across diverse terrains
- Strong knowledge of trucking equipment such as manual transmission trucks, and flatbeds.
- Familiarity with logistics cargo handling procedures for loading, securing, and unloading freight safely.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems effectively for route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean record adhering to DOT regulations and safety standards
- Experience with delivery driver responsibilities including load & unload operations and customer service interactions
