Role Description The Behavior Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based at Spring Lake Elementary School in Ocoee, FL. This role focuses on supporting students with behavioral and social-emotional needs by observing behavior in classrooms and other school settings, collecting data, and collaborating with teachers and staff to develop and implement behavior intervention plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include coaching staff in proactive behavior strategies, providing direct support to students, and modeling effective behavior management techniques. The Behavior Specialist will lead or participate in meetings about student support, communicate regularly with families and caregivers, and help ensure that interventions are consistent with school policies and best practices. The role also involves creating and maintaining documentation, monitoring progress, and adjusting strategies as needed to promote positive student outcomes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Behavior Analysis and Applied Behavior Analysis, with the ability to design and implement evidence-based behavior support plans.
- Demonstrated skills in Behavior Management and Behavior Modification for elementary-aged students in a school or similar setting.
- Background in Psychology or related field, with understanding of child development and social-emotional learning.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, behavior analysis, or a related discipline; advanced training or certification in behavior analysis (e.g., BCaBA/BCBA) is preferred.
- Experience in K–5 educational environments, including familiarity with multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) or positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS), is beneficial.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation, handle confidential information responsibly, and comply with all school and district policies.
- ESE Certification and Elementary Certified Teacher are needed.
