Position Overview for Recreation Assistant):
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Recreation Assistant to support the Director of Activities in designing, coordinating, and implementing a variety of recreational and educational programs for our residents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for seniors through engaging activities and a strong commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Implementation: Assist in the planning and execution of individual and group activities based on residents’ interests and needs.
- Resident Assessment: Complete the activity component of the resident assessment within 14 days of admission and update the program quarterly.
- Data Gathering: Document required assessments and resident interactions, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Interdisciplinary Team Participation: Actively participate in resident care conferences and collaborate with other team members to address residents’ activity-related concerns.
- Activity Coordination: Organize and conduct a range of indoor and outdoor activities, including evening and weekend events, to promote resident engagement.
- Volunteer Supervision: Schedule and supervise volunteers to assist with activity programs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and manage supplies for program implementation.
- Compassionate: A genuine desire to enhance residents’ quality of life through meaningful engagement.
- Strong Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of building rapport with residents and their families.
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage documentation and follow through on resident care plans.
- Adaptable: Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Community-Oriented: Passion for creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all residents.
- An Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in a senior living or healthcare setting is a plus.
